Two years since closing, Bishop's Hull Post Office and shop is set to reopen under new ownership.

Tim Pope, who runs the butchers next door, has purchased the building and will ensure it returns as a local post office and shop. Reopening of the shop is anticipated for later in 2012, with an operational Post Office early in 2013.

The reopening of the Post Office and shop has been welcomed by Cllr Ian Morrell, who has been championing this community amenity since it closed in November 2010.

Commenting on the imminent reopening, Cllr Morrell says:

"The community was devastated when the doors shut but reopening of this service will return a valuable amenity to a number of local residents, making their lives a little easier."

"Bishop's Hull is thankful to Tim and his team for their valuable efforts and we must all work together to ensure this venture is a success."

"I am in the process of ensuring a grant of at least £2,000 is awarded from Taunton Deane Borough Council in order to help with the cost of reopening. Cllr John Osman, Leader of Somerset County Council, has also agreed support through the council's economic development team."
