Earlier this afternoon, Taunton Deane council leader John Williams took to the airwaves to assure the people of Taunton that they did what they could for the community theatre.
He told Apple FM presenter, Jason Freeman: “Firstly it is extremely sad news and it is a tremendous loss to the art and leisure culture of Taunton, Somerset and much wider.
“I really feel for the amateur groups that are going to be affected by this
“The council did work very hard to try and come to some agreement but unfortunately we just did not have a deep enough pocket to sustain it.
“As we have always supported the Brewhouse we will consider, subject to members agreeing, continuing that support in some way or other.”
