Peter Carver, 89, is thought to have gone missing in the early hours of this morning. He was last seen yesterday afternoon.
Heavy snow started falling in Taunton at around 3am this morning and it is not known if he took a coat when he left.
He is described as white, around 5ft 9inches tall with white hair and glasses. It is thought he may be wearing slippers and a light coloured, possibly blue, quilted type gilet or waistcoat.
Peter has a large plaster on the right hand side of his head and may appear confused or depressed when spoken to.
In addition he may not have taken medication which he requires.
A police spokesperson said: "Peter regularly walks around Taunton town centre and may be sheltering from the bad weather in a shop.
"We would like people to check their sheds, outbuildings and garages as Peter may have sought shelter from the poor weather.
"We would like Peter or anyone spotting him to contact police at Taunton on the 101 number or on-line using the following link
