A furry resident at Pulsford Lodge care home in Wiveliscombe, Taunton, has been voted Somerset Care's most popular pet.

Somerset Care invited the public to vote for their favorite furry care home resident by 'liking' pictures of pets across Somerset Care Homes on their Facebook page.

Sky the cat won by five votes, followed closely by Chewy the sweet-natured terrier, another well-loved resident at Pulsford Lodge.

Sky received a certificate and some scrumptious cat treats for winning.

Other entries included Christina the Cocker Spaniel puppy, Daisy the rabbit and a rubber duck from the Marketing department at Somerset Care's central offices.

Sonya Matthias, Manager of Pulsford Lodge, said: "Earlier this year Chewy, our dog, won a 'People's Choice' award and Sky felt left out so it's fantastic news to hear that she's won the Facebook competition.

She added: "The pets are so important to the residents and staff here at Pulsford Lodge, Chewy and Sky are part of the Somerset Care family and we couldn't be without them."

Sonya found Sky in West Hatch five years ago after the home's previous cat Billy passed away.

She said: "Sky has never had the luxury of a garden until now and to this day she still appreciates the open space and patrols the grounds after her breakfast."
