MP get Green Tour of Taunton Hospital

Tessa Munt, the MP for Wells has been given a green tour of Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.

As part of her tour she was given information on the hospital's pioneering energy efficiency project with Schneider Electric, which is set to save the hospital £17million, over the next 20 years.

The project, which is the first of its kind in the UK healthcare sector, will deliver substantial energy efficiency measures at Musgrove Park Hospital.  The project is self-funding, and includes the cost of replacing old energy inefficient infrastructure and equipment as well as essential estate projects financed by the fuel savings achieved, meaning there is zero cost to the tax payer.

Under the project, Musgrove Park's average energy consumption is set to be reduced by more than 40% and its carbon emissions will be cut by 43% - the best of any UK public sector organisation.
