Man knocked unconcious in Taunton

Police are investigating an assault in which a man had his jaw broken and was knocked unconscious for several hours.

The victim, a 21-year-old man, had been in the Okoko nightclub and left at around 2.30am. He walked up North Street, into East Street and took a shortcut into Tancred Street. At 3.40am he was in Cannon Street and had just made a phone call when he was hit in the head in an unprovoked assault. He was knocked unconscious until 7am and woke to find his jaw had been broken.
The victim is a white man, 5'9" tall with short brown hair. He was wearing a pink shirt and beige chinos.
An investigation has begun and police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the assault or saw the victim walking through the town or noticed anyone following him.
