Olympic Flags go up in Taunton

Taunton Deane Borough Council's Direct Labour Organisation have been literally putting the flags out today, dressing it with the 2012 Olympic Torch Relay banners as the town prepares for the big day on Monday.

The level of excitement in the town is rising,with many local businesses supporting the celebrations with special events over the next few days and local schools preparing to take part in Olympic Games fun on Monday.

In addition to the activities we have already mentioned (follow previous link), there is an Olympic themed Fun day at Victoria Park from1-6pm on Saturday which will be attended by the new Mayor of Taunton Deane,Councillor Terry Hall.

Taunton is going to be THE place to be this weekend and on Monday when the torch arrives, there are major activities all day so visitor numbers are expected to rocket. With media vehicles taking up some of the town centre parking,and the market going on, everyone is being advised to use the Park and Ride scheme which will be operating until 9pm from both Gateway and Silk Mills.
