Olympic star to appear at Taunton gymnastics festival

British Olympic gymnast Jennifer Pinches will be appearing in Taunton this Saturday at the South West Festival of Gymnastics.

 18-year-old Jennifer will be making an appearance at Wellsprings Leisure Centre for GymFusion South West following her performance at the 2012 London Olympics.

 'Circus and fairground' is the theme for the GymFusion South West event, which will showcase dazzling performances from local teams which include Yeovil, Taunton and Weston-Super-Mare.

The performances will take place on Saturday January 19 and the morning performance will run from 11:15am – 12.30pm and the afternoon performance will from 4.15pm – 6.40pm.

Katie Irwin, area manager of the British Gymnastics South West development team and GymFusion event organiser said: "We have 26 teams of gymnasts attending throughout the day, all of a variety of ages and abilities, disability gymnasts and adult groups performing, as well as tots doing cheerleading.

"Jennifer, the Olympian, will be attending all day, and the other VIPs will be at the afternoon performance slot.

"We have ten teams in the morning and 16 teams in the afternoon slot. The festival feel is exciting and will create a great buzz."

Star gymnast Jennifer was born in Tunbridge Wells and has been a regular GB competitor at major championships for more than three years, winning a series of bronze, silver and gold medals.
