Dave Nosworthy said Somerset took a proactive approach to securing the futures of Craig Overton and Jamie Overton, knowing the highly-rated twins would attract interest from elsewhere.

Both all-rounder Craig and bowler Jamie are already on England's radar – and director of cricket Nosworthy said Somerset could not afford to assume the twins would stay at Taunton. The 19-year-olds from North Devon have signed three-year deals with Somerset, ensuring they will remain at Taunton for at least the 2014, 2015 and 2016 seasons.
"It is still early days, and there is a lot of pressure on these young guys, but there is always interest from outside for good players," said Nosworthy. "You can't expect them to just hang around, because clubs are always looking for talent like this.
"But we have taken the right steps and managed to secure them, and ensured that for the foreseeable future they will be with us."
Although he did not feature in a match, Jamie was called up for England's one-day international squad for their series against Australia this summer and also turned out for England Lions, while Craig toured with England Lions last winter.
Jamie has taken 41 first-class wickets at 35.36 and 20 in List A cricket at 27. Craig, who missed much of last season with a back injury, has only appeared in eight first-class and seven List A games.
And, while Nosworthy referred to the duo as "diamonds", he knows there is still much work to do for both twins in the next few years.
"A lot of the investment we are making now is in potential – and there are no guarantees on getting the exact output," he said. "But there is enough belief, from ourselves and the ECB, that there is real ability – and we need to invest in that."
Jamie Overton said: "I look forward to a long association with the club, and to winning as much silverware along the way as possible."
His twin brother added: "It is an honour to have signed an extension with the club I have always supported and have always wanted to play for. It is an exciting time for me."
