Since when has wearing a poppy been either a political, commercial or religious statement?

This whole FIFA business is crazy, someone on twitter commented that players are allowed to wear turbans that is definitely religious and some would deem political.

Remembrance and the poppy appeal is about marking 11.11. a day when PEACE came back, the horrors of war were stopped.

We are not the only country that wear the poppy in respect and it is the Royal British Legion's 90th anniversary this year, they are a charity not a commercial enterprise .

I am not a football fan but if I was, I would boycott anything to do with FIFA, they have no respect.

And yes I have bought my poppy this year, as I always do, and I am not religious but I will be attending a service of Remembrance OUT OF RESPECT for those who gave their lives to protect their loved ones.
