Taunton Academy CD for Stand Against Violence
The Taunton Academy have teamed up with Open Mic UK semi-finalists, REALM to write and record a charity single. The single is inspired by, and aims to promote the charity 'Stand Against Violence' (SAV).
The charity is run by Adam Fouracre, brother of Lloyd, who was killed in Taunton by an act of unprovoked violence the day before his 18th birthday.
He works very hard to run various educational conferences, assemblies and lessons to schools and other associations to educate young people in the harm violence can do to all concerned.
The song – also called SAVED – was written by James Trusson and Andrew Maxwell, both 17 year old students' at Richard Huish College who also play and sing on the recording. The Taunton Academy has also added lead vocals and harmonies, with drums by Craig Connet who plays with Sandi Thom and Joss Stone. The charity single has been produced by Actiontrack, a community based music Production Company based in South Petherton, led by Nick Brace.
The single can be purchased from the SAV website - or The Taunton Academy website - as well as via iTunes downloads.
A number of outlets in Taunton are selling the single, for example: O2, Body shop, Perkin Warbeck and Miles tea rooms.
The Taunton Academy Principal, Mark Trusson commented: "The single is a fantastic community effort to promote the charity and make people aware of the good work it does to help educate people around the serious harm and impact of violence. It is a really catchy song and we hope it will sell well. All proceeds will go to SAV so make this your number one at Christmas!"
Adam Fouracre commented :"This single is an extremely kind and unexpected act. Not only does it raise the profile of the charity and bring in much needed funds but it directly contributes to sustaining Lloyd's memory and the message we promote to schools. Lloyd was not just a member of my family and friend to many but he was also a member of the Taunton community. This single commemorates his life and I
hope the people of Taunton will support its release. The song is very inspiring and promotes a positive message of a more peaceful and non-violent society."
