Taunton Deane grants

PROJECTS that help young people or schemes aimed at improving the lives of people in Taunton Deane could be eligible for limited grant funding from the Borough Council.
There is still time for groups to apply for money after the Council's Executive approved two small grants schemes for the coming year.
The Youth Initiatives Fund has been created to support projects which seek to improve the lives, health and wellbeing of children and young people in Taunton Deane.
The Voluntary and Community Organisation Fund aims to support local projects and organisations that help improve the lives, health and wellbeing of people in Taunton Deane. All projects will be considered but those in line with the Council's aims of tackling deprivation, regeneration, affordable housing and climate change will be given priority.
Cllr Jane Warmington, who holds the Community Leadership brief, said: "I am delighted that we are able to provide some funding to help local groups despite the squeeze on the public purse. Small grants can very often open the door to more funding from other sources."
Applications for both funds are welcome and must be submitted by 14 May 2012.
