Taunton challenge for writers

The Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre in Taunton is challenging writers to see just what they can do in just the space of an A4 page. Let your imagination flowonto the page,entries can be any style – poetry, prose, script, confession, love letter, or any other of your choosing – the only rule is that each entry must fit onto one side of A4 paper. The judges will simply be looking at the power of your words on the page to move, inspire, or even change the world!

Taunton literary challenge
It is 200 years since the birth of Edward Lear, he of "The Owl and the Pussy Cat" fame, perhaps you fancy a go at a bit of nonsense poetry.
Whatever floats your literary boat,there are £275 worth of prizes thanks to sponsorship by Waterstones Taunton.
Deadline for entries: 29th May 2012

Adults - £4 :: Under 16s - Free
Entry fee includes free admission to The Page is Printed Open Mic Night on Friday 29th June at The Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre, where prize winners will be announced

I agree where would theatre be without writersand writing does seem tohave become a lesser craft especially with all this chat room and text speak. Even some teachers seems to lack spelling and grammar skills ,I know language is constantly changing and original Shakespeare would probably need translating but let's not lose the beauty of the written word.

ReportIt is so great to see literary talent being encouraged, it is wonderful that performing arts have taken off like they have but think writing is being a bit neglected. It is a shame however that this competition implies the PRINTED word,it would be nice to see good handwriting encouraged more, I worry that it is a dying art.
