I recommend Brendon Books if you are planning a trip anywhere, they have a fantastic range of reference books and maps and you can have a decent look nice an quietly without feeling pressured. There is nothing worse than rushing when you are buying a map and finding you should have got the next one over!

ReportAfter all the fuss we have had about library closures I do hope its made everyone think about the value of our bookshops, especially independent ones like our lovely Brendon Books. To heck with electronic gadgets ,there is nothing like the smell of a new book or being able to pass one on to someone else. Brendon are doing second hand books too now . I love this shop and its in Bath Place which is a great part of Taunton to shop.

ReportBookshops vary so much and there are some I have been put off because they have felt too claustrophobic, and dark which is not good when you are trying to read! When I went to Brendon Books for the first time the other day I was pleasantly surprised. Tucked away in Bath Place off the High Street, it's one of those shops with the Tardis effect being a lot bigger inside than the shop front belies. It is roomy and well lit and the staff are very helpful.
They regularly have book signings and specialize in maps which I think is what gives them the edge.
A great place for the tourists.

Brendon Books and Maps is an independent bookshop based in Taunton. They have established a very fast and efficient service and welcome questions and queries. They sell new and second hand books which you can buy online or in the shop. I prefer to browse for books physically when I have the option, which is why I like this particular bookshop. The staff are very friendly and patient so that I do not feel pressurised to purchase if I havent actually found anything. I really like their collection of history and political biographies.
