tauntonpeople is two today

It's two years today since we launched www.tauntonpeople.co.uk one of the many Localpeople sites that have spread across the country over the last five years.

We are very pleased to see so many Taunton people have now joined us to share their news,views and reviews and look for businesses or jobs and hope to those of you who have come on board will encourage your friends and family to sign up and make this truly your site for all things in the Taunton area.

There is still less public use than we would like to see,remember YOU can add your events, write news or comments on postings, recommend businesses and most popular of all,add a photo gallery.

2011 was an eventful year in the Taunton area,I have met some amazing people and we ran the Local Legend competition which was won by businessman James Hembrow of Craftasmic. Most recently of course was the wonderful panto performed by the Wayfarers and the fantastic people at the Bishops Lydeard Mill who have worked so hard to raise money for charities.

There have been a lot of changes in the town this year,trees cut down in the High Street,the re-opening of the Museum of Somerset in Taunton Castle,The Third Way,Goodlands Garden and now they are working on Castle Green. There has been  a cathedral of willow and a solar powered river boat 

Taunton in Bloom and the Taunton Flower Show were two highlights of the year  and I loved seeing the Somerset bike riders that gathered for the Easter Egg Run .

There has been fun and sadness,new businesses coming to town like Hotel Chocolat and others leaving, protests and celebrations and crazy people running in banana suits.

Elation when Miss Taunton was crowned and the delight of the children watching the carnival and the lovely ladies who were totally there when we watched the Royal Wedding at the Brewhouse Theatre.

It would be hard to pick out one thing about the last year that stands out the most, when I have seen so many people who are working hard,often behind the scenes, to keep a positive momentum in these difficult times but I do think Taunton is holding its own.

So come on Taunton people let's make tauntonpeople the best of the Localpeople sites and show the world how we do it in the west country.
