Where's our snow?

Way below zero temperatures and Treacherous roads reported across Somerset this morning. All this weather everyone is getting, and all we get is a sprinkle and a whole lot of icy back roads, where's the fun in that? If we're going to be cold at least close the schools and give the kids some fun ( OK then me as well !) that's what I say.
Somerset lanes in the snow
I keep seeing sledges being towed around by people, looking for enough to slide on, I think the rest of the country should share ,it's not like it happens that often down here in balmy (ha ha) Somerset.
It is way more stressful for everyone like this, officially we are told don't travel unless necessary then we have to assess what is necessary. Yesterday the main roads were OK by mid morning but the back roads were a nightmare and if you live in a village do you risk the scorn of being the only one who didn't make it into work? We feel like wimps if we don't give it a go, it's just the same with the flooding when it comes and people take silly risks.
We had to get to a dentist appointment yesterday which was urgent due to my husbands raging gums and we live in the sticks; before we get to a main road we have to negotiate hills which are not gritted. Our vehicle is a 4WD so knew we would get there , all be it slower, and gave ourselves plenty of time but ended up stopping twice to help people trying to come uphill who had ordinary cars and didn't know how to cope.
I have been surfing the net looking for live webcams to watch the weather, there aren't any I have found in Taunton but there are some river cams in the surrounding area and there is this BBC site for motorway cams which is very handy if you have to travel.
